Icon Sports Men’s Basketball Rules

Icon Sports Men’s Basketball follows guidelines outlined by NCAA Basketball with the exception of the following rules.

Equipment

  • All players must wear their Icon Sports issued jersey.
  • Illegal equipment includes:
    • a) All Jewelry (ie: barrettes, rings, string bracelets, rubber bands, eye rings, etc.)
    • b) A guard, cast or brace made of hard and unyielding leather, plaster, pliable (soft) plastic, metal or any other hard substance – even though covered with soft padding – when worn on the elbow, hand, finger, wrist or forearm.

Game Play

  • Games will be divided into two 20 minute halves with 3 minutes between halves.
    Running clock except for time outs. The clock will stop on all whistles during the last two minutes of the game if the score is within 10 points.
  • Time Outs - each team is allowed 2 time outs per half. Each time out is one minute in length. Each team will receive only one time out in each overtime period. Timeouts may not be accumulated.
  • Overtime - in case of a tie at the end of regulation time, an extra two minute overtime period will be added. As many overtime periods as needed will be played.

Fouls

  • Individual Technical Fouls – any player receiving two technical fouls is automatically ejected from the game.
  • 2 foul shots will be awarded for all shooting fouls, except for 3 pointers where 3 shots will be awarded.
  • 1 and 1 will be awarded when opposing team gets into the bonus at 7 team fouls.
  • 2 foul shots will be awarded for all fouls when the opposing team reaches 10 team fouls.
  • Player will be disqualified after 5 personal fouls. Technical fouls count as personal fouls.
  • Player ejection will result from two individual technical fouls. A player ejected from the game for technical fouls will face an automatic one game suspension which may be increased due to the severity of the incident.

Players

  • A team may start a game with 4 players. It may NOT play with 3 players.
    Teams down to 3 players will not be allowed to continue.
  • Game time is forfeit time.
  • In the case that a forfeit occurs, all reasonable attempts should be made in order to play an exhibition game with the players present.

Dunking

There is absolutely no dunking. Dunking is a technical foul.

SCHEDULE AND PLAYOFF PROCEDURE

  • League will consist of 9 teams maximum and will play 8 regular season games.
  • League championship will be determined by season ending playoff games.
  • Ties in the final standings will be broken by head to head play results during the season between the teams involved. If no clear winner is established, a flip of the coin will establish the winner.
  • Top 4 teams in standings will compete in the playoffs.
  • Playoffs will be single elimination and determine the league champion.

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY

  • Teams are limited to a roster of 7 minimum players and maximum of 10 players.
  • Only players who are on the official roster that is turned in by the team captain are eligible to participate.
  • Any team that plays with an ineligible player, that is one who has not signed the team roster is subject to forfeiture of all league games in which that player participated.
